2. How many 4-letters words with or without meaning, can be formed out of the letters of the word, LOGARITHMS, if repetition of letters is not allowed?

Ans. 5040

Explanation: The word contains 10 different words.
Now, We have to do permutation of 10 words, taking 4 at a time.
Therefore, 10P4=10 x 9 x 8 x 7 = 5040

3.  How many number 4 digit number can be formed using the digits 2,3,4,5,7,8 if repetition of digit is not allowed?

Ans. 360

Explanation: No. of digit given - 6
Now, We have to do permutation of 6 digits , taking 4 at a time
Therefore, 6P4=6 x 5 x 4 x 3 = 360

Info: Try to solve this type permutation question form any book.

4. A box contains 4 red balls, 5 green balls and 6 white balls. A ball is drawn at random from the box. What is the probability that the ball drawn is either red or green ?

Ans. 3/5

Explanation: Total no. of ball =15
Probability of drawing a red ball = 4/15
Probability of drawing a green ball =5/15
Therefore, that the ball drawn is either red or green = (4/15 +5/15) = 9/15=3/5.

5. How many 3-digit numbers can be formed from the digits 2, 3, 5, 6,7 and 9 , which are divisible by 5 and none of the digits is repeated ?

Ans. 20

Explanation: The numbers end with 0 and 5  are only divisible by 5. We have no zero in the digit list through which we have to make the numbers. Therefore only 5 will be in unit place. This can be done in 1 ways.
Tens place can be filled with any of the remaining 5 digits.
The hundreds can be filled with any of the remaining 4 digits.
Therefore, the no. of numbers can be formed is = 5 x 4 x 1 = 20

6. It was calculated that 75 men could complete a piece of work in 20 days. When work was scheduled to commence, it was found necessary to send 25 men to another project. How much longer will it take to complete the work?

Ans. 30

Explanation: Before: One day work  =  1 / 20
One man’s one day work  =  1 / ( 20 * 75)
After, 25 men are send to another project.
No. of workers  = 50
One day work  =  50 * 1 /  ( 20 * 75)
The total no. of days required to complete the work = (75 * 20) / 50 = 30

7. A boat takes 19 hrs for traveling downstream from point A to point B and coming back to a point C midway between A and B. If the velocity of the stream is 4 kmph. and the speed of the boat in still water is 14 kmph. What is the distance between A and B?

Ans. 180

Explanation: Speed downstream =14+4 =18 kmph
Speed upstream = 14 -4 = 10 kmph
Let the distance between A and B be x km. then,
x/18 + (x/2)/10 = 19
x/18 + x/20 = 19
19x/180 =19 =>x = 180km.
Hence, the distance between A and B by 180 km

8. If an article is sold at 5% gain instead of 5% loss, the seller gets Rs 6.72 more. The C.P of the article is?

Ans. 67.21

Explanation: Let C.P be Rs x
105% of x-95% of x=6.72
(105/100)*x-(95/100)*x=6.72
x/10=6.72
x=Rs 67.21.
